Glossary

Product compliance certification (PCC)
Synonymes : CCP

It certifies that a food product is compliant with specific rules and characteristics in terms of production, processing or packaging. Laid out in the specifications, these characteristics relate to the composition of the product, its visual, gustatory and olfactory qualities including certain manufacturing rules. This certification relates to foodstuffs as well as agricultural non food and non processed products.

Protected designation of origin (AOP)
Synonymes : AOP

It designates a product for which the production stages are carried out in the same geographical area according to recognised know-how. This quality label meets a precise set of specifications and protects the product’s name throughout the European Union.

Protected geographical indication (PGI)
Synonymes : IGP

The PGI identifies a raw or processed agricultural product, for which the quality, reputation or other characteristics are attributable to its geographical origin.

The PGI is associated with know-how. It confers protection on an existing production, thereby granting protection at national and international levels. It guarantees that at least one stage during the production, processing or preparation of this product has taken place within a defined geographical area.

The PGI applies to the agricultural, agri-food and wine sectors.
